Styling a Leather Jacket for Autumn : Over 40 Style

We're well and truly into Autumn here, and that calls for autumn layering outfits. 

A leather biker jacket is the perfect transitional season piece. A true classic of the wardrobe, adding a layer of warmth and a whole dose of cool to an outfit.

I've layered my beloved biker here with combats, a thin thermal long sleeved top (an essential for warmth without bulk) and a designer inspired cashmere scarf. Add boots, and don't forget to take a brolly and you're autumn ready!

A leather biker is a statement yet versatile piece, use it to dress down a formal wide leg trouser outfit, add an edgy layer over a cute floral dress and style casually with a hoodie and joggers. 

The traditional biker jacket is a boxy shape with an asymmetric front zip, and metal hardware. Personally I prefer the traditional look of silver hardware on leather. And I've chosen a mid sized jacket for versatility, close enough to look fairly fitted, loose enough to layer over a jumper.

A real leather jacket is an investment piece, and there are also some fabulous faux leather alternatives on the high street, look for one without any sheen which will look more authentic. 

And best thing about a biker jacket? They look better with age!
